Gene Harris -- Current and Recent Projects
U.S. ARMY - Metro Productions asked me to write a series of seven training and/or informational scripts for the Army's Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) dealing with with a wide range of subject matter -- from broad, strategic concepts such as the Functional Concept of Sustainment, to nuts-and-bolts training on how to use the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, to orientation videos for new Army recruits who are about to become Patriot Missile System Repairers, Avenger System Repairers, and even Railway System Repairers. I traveled to Ft. Lee and Ft. Eustis in Virginia, to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, and Redstone Arsenal in Alabama to meet with all sorts of Army subject matter experts who helped me get smart quickly on this broad range of subject matter.
Metro Productions also hired me to write a script for the Army's Comprehensive Soldier Fitness program, a new initiative that the Army will use to help build balanced, healthy, self-confident soldiers, families, and Army civilians. The video features young actors portraying soldiers, and high-energy graphics and music.
GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION - Fuel Creative in Richmond, Virginia, asked me to write a second script for the General Services Administration, since my first script for them, a 20-minute docudrama about the GSA's New Deal Art Recovery Program, was such a hit with them. This one is part of a series of historical documentaries that GSA is producing about their ongoing efforts to renovate and restore many of their historic and architecturally significant federal buildings. It's about the John W. McCormack Post Office and Courthouse in Boston, Massachusetts, built in the early 30s and recently renovated and rehabilitated by GSA. It's one of the most splendid examples of Federal Art Deco architecture extant.
SPRING ARBOR ASSISTED LIVING - Hal McArthur of McArthur Productions asked me to create a script for a marketing piece for Spring Arbor Assisted Living, Inc., a division of his long-time client H.H.Hunt, Inc. The video will be used throughout Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee to inform prospective families and residents about the benefits of living in one of Spring Arbor's Residential Assisted Living communities.
